Mizuho Nishikubo's new animated feature film, Giovanni's Island is part of the official selection at the 62nd Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF 2014), to be held in Melbourne, Australia, from July 31 to August 17, 2014. The screening in Melbourne marks the movie's Australian premiere.

MIFF 2014 describes Giovanni's Island as follows:
"Combining stunning animation with a delicately wrought story of friendship and family in the face of grand adversity, Giovanni's Island is the latest offering from anime legend Mizuho Nishikubo. Powerful, humane and unexpectedly magical, this is animation of the highest order, finding joy amid tragedy and wonder in the face of despair."

Established in 1952, the Melbourne International Film Festival is the most significant screen event in Australia and the longest running film festival of the Pacific rim. MIFF showcases the best in current cinema from around the world as well as retrospectives and tributes.
