Tachigui screening at the 61st San Sebastian Film Festival

Mamoru Oshii's Tachigui: The Amazing Lives of the Fast Food Grifters (original title: Tachiguishi Retsuden) is screening at the 61st San Sebastian International Film Festival, to be held in San Sebastian, Spain, from September 20 to 28, 2013.

Tachigui: The Amazing Lives of the Fast Food Grifters is part of the festival's Animatopia retrospective, dedicated to best in "new paths" of contemporary world animation. The cycle offers a look at 25 films that overshoot the limits erroneously imposed on the genre, family entertainment or fantastic adventures. The programmed titles highlight the freedom and capacity of alternative animation to tackle all kinds of adult themes through different perspectives, techniques and points of view.

Tachigui: The Amazing Lives of the Fast Food Grifters is a thought-provoking mockumentary bringing a critical history of Japan from the post-war until today through the evolution of the country's dietary styles, summed up in a prestigious collage of innovative animation techniques.

Established in 1953, the San Sebastian International Film Festival has established itself as one of the most important cinema festivals in the world, being one of the 14 "A" category competitive festivals accredited by the FIAPF.
