Mamoru Oshii's Tachigui: The Amazing Lives of the Fast Food Grifters (original title: Tachiguishi Retsuden, 2006) will screen at the 5th Cherry Blossom Anime Marathon, to be held on April 14, 2007 at the prestigious Smithsonian Institution-owned Meyer Auditorium, located inside the Freer Gallery, Washington DC, USA.

The Cherry Blossom Anime Marathon, a day-long festival of four Japanese Anime films, is part of the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival, held in Washington DC from March 31 to April 15, in a celebration marking the gift of 3,000 cherry trees from the city of Tokyo to the people of Washington, DC in 1912. As the national museum of Asian art for the United States, the Freer and Sackler Galleries join in this celebration with exhibitions and events exploring Japanese art and culture.

The Smithsonian Institution, one of the world's most esteemed educational and research institutes and associated museum complex, was founded in 1846 in accordance to the will of a British scientist named James Smithson (1765-1829), ":for the increase and diffusion of knowledge among men." It counts 15 museums and 8 research centers.

The Freer Gallery of Art is the Smithsonian Institution's museum of east Asian art, including art from China, Korea, Japan, and Southeast Asia, as well as American art. When the gallery opened to the public in 1923, it was the first Smithsonian museum for fine arts. It is located at Jefferson Drive at 12th Street, SW, Washington, DC.

The Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Auditorium, located in the Freer, provides a venue for a broad variety of free public programs relating to the collections of the Freer and the nearby Sackler galleries, including concerts of Asian music and dance, films, lectures, chamber music, and dramatic presentations.
