The aim for Stockholm International Film Festival is to broaden the selection of films in Sweden with creative new films of high quality and offer the visitor an orientation within modern film to stimulate a continuing debate.
Started in 1990, in the past 19 years the Festival screened more than 2000 movies from all over the world, and celebrated guests like Dennis Hopper, Lauren Bacall, Gena Rowlands, Ang Lee, David Cronenberg, Roman Polanski, Terry Gilliam and Elia Kazan have all attended the Festival.

"Internationally celebrated anime director Mamoru Oshii has conjured up a true epic, commenting on the state of humanity, the status of the Japanese nation and the frightening perspectives of war. Touching on how our personal identities are built by love and memories, the poetic scope of Oshii tells a thought-provoking story through dramatic dogfights and romanticism. Based on the novel series by MORI Hiroshi, The Sky Crawlers is fantasy disturbingly close to reality."
