Yoshimi Itazu's directorial debut mid-lenght film Pigtails won the Award of Merit in the animation category of the 14th Accolade Global Film Competition. The awards were announced on June 8, 2016.

Attracting both powerhouse companies as well as talented new filmmakers, Accolade Global Film Competition is an avant-garde worldwide competition that strives to give talented directors, producers, actors, creative teams and new media creators the positive exposure they deserve. It discovers and honors the achievements of filmmakers who produce high quality shorts and new media.
