Miss Hokusai is Best Animated Film Award winner at APSAs 2015

November 27, 2015

Keiichi Hara's Annecy-winning latest directorial effort, Sarusuberi: Miss Hokusai won the Best Animated Feature Film Award at the 9th annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards. The award ceremony was held on November 26, 2015 in Brisbane, Australia.

The jury motivated the award as follows: "Miss Hokusai is a magical marriage of the divergent media of Japanese painting and film animation, blending the special qualities of both disciplines with poetic beauty and evocative storytelling."

The Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSAs) acclaims, at a global level, the cinematic excellence and cultural diversity of the vast Asia-Pacific region. Supported by UNESCO and FIAPF-International Federation of Film Producers' Associations, the initiative honours the works of filmmakers across a vast region stretching from Egypt in the west to the Cook Islands in the east, and from Russia in the north to New Zealand in the south. In total, an area representing 4.5 billion people; 60 percent of the global population; 70 countries and areas; one third of the earth; and half the world's film output.
