Blood-C: The Last Dark wins L'Ecran Fantastique Prize at Fantasia 2012

August 9, 2012

Naoyoshi Shiotani's full-length feature film debut, Blood-C: The Last Dark was greeted with L'Ecran Fantastique Prize at the 16th Fantasia Film Festival (Fantasia 2012), held in Montreal, Canada, from July 19 to August 9, 2012.

Yves Rivard from the French magazine L'Ecran Fantastique motivated the prize as follows:
"The amazing editing and horrifying Lovecraftian bestiary, as well as attention to textures and lighting make this production a great animation film which caters as much to fans of fantasy horror as Japanese animation."

Rupert Bottenberg from Fantasia 2012 described the film as follows:
"An iconic anime character, an epic and expanding legend, top-notch creative and technical talent - and a surprising new twist. It all adds up to the thrilling animated feature film Blood-C: The Last Dark. Be sure to wear something that doesn't stain easy."

Fantasia Film Festival is North America's premiere and largest genre film festival, taking place in the city of Montreal, and was the first member of the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation outside of Europe. It has been described by Quentin Tarantino as "The most important and prestigious genre film festival on this continent."
