Miss Hokusai featured at the Hokusai x Manga exhibition at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg, Germany
June 17, 2016
Keiichi Hara's latest film Miss Hokusai is being featured at the "Hokusai x Manga" exhibition, currently held at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe (MKG) of Hamburg, Germany. The exhibition, held from June 10 through September 11, aims to establish a link between Edo period popular culture, such as ukiyo-e depicting actors, warriors and courtesans, and present-day Tokyo pop culture, made of manga, anime and idols, both so hugely influential on the West. The corner dedicated to Miss Hokusai features production material never shown to the public before.
With approximately 500,000 objects from 4,000 years of human history the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg is one of the most influential museums for arts and crafts in Europe. Opened in 1877, the MKG tells the remarkable story of human creativity. The top-class collections range from Ancient art to Contemporary art and include the European, Islamic and East Asian cultural regions.
