Australia's annual Japanese Film Festival will be screening Tokyo Marble Chocolate and Oblivion Island: Haruka at the Magic Mirror, and anime creator Naoyoshi Shiotani will appear as guest of honour.
The bittersweet romantic comedy Tokyo Marble Chocolate (2007) is Shiotani's directorial debut, and it was awarded the Grand Prize in the Feature Film Category of the 12th Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival (SICAF 2008). Japan Academy Prizes-winner and APSA-nominated Oblivion Island (2009) is Production I.G's first 3DCGI movie, for which Shiotani contributed animation direction, storyboards, the island concept design, and the design for Cotton, the movie heroine's supercute stuffed animal.
